Privacy Policy
Mango keeps your preferences on your device and sends no data to the developer.
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Mango the Cat is a cosmetic browser extension that shows an animated pixel cat on the web pages you visit. That's the whole product.
Local processing
Your data stays on your device.
Mango processes page elements and layout, cursor movement, scrolling, and the current website's hostname locally to animate the cat and provide per-site settings. Page content and browsing activity are not transmitted to the developer or third parties.
There are no analytics, no tracking, no accounts, and no external servers used by the extension. Mango does not sell or share user data. Its use of user data is limited to the functionality described here and complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What is stored
The extension keeps a small amount of data locally in your browser only, using the browser's storage API:
- whether the cat is turned on or off, per website;
- the cat's display size;
- which cat skin you've chosen.
This is your own preference data. It never leaves your device, and it is removed when you uninstall the extension.
Permissions
- storage — to remember the settings above, locally on your device.
- activeTab — so the popup can talk to the tab you're on when you click the Mango icon — for example, to turn the cat on or off for that site or change its size.
- Access to the sites you visit — the cat lives on web pages, so its content script has to be able to run on them. To decide where to sit, it reads the page's layout and the text of elements locally, in your browser — but it never stores or transmits any of it. Some sensitive sites are excluded by default: email (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo), payment providers (PayPal, Stripe), and document editors (Google Docs / Drive).
